Situated in Venezuela, the historical Hacienda Santa Teresa has a rugby pitch on the grounds, allowing for the perfect way for workers to blow off some steam in their lunch hour. The distillery also supports The Alcatraz Project that sets out to rehabilitate ex-gang members by teaching them teamwork. The ethos of teamwork is one that runs throughout the company, who see their role in distilling as part of a wider team as well.

Santa Teresa was the first Solera-style aged Rum in the world. Santa Teresa Añejo Gran Reserva is a classic staple in every bay where you can expect tropical cocktails. It’s aged for up to 5 years in American oak, which makes it soft and easy with pleasant sweet flavors of Demerara sugar, honeysuckle, and vanilla. In other words, perfect for your tropical cocktail.

Not that smooth in itself, but works nicely with cola; probably in cocktails as well. So I wouldn't drink it raw, but it's good value for a cocktail ingredient.
