Gruppo Montenegro is an Italian cultural powerhouse. Established in the city of Bologna by herbalist Stanislao Cobianchi in 1885 to create and market his signature Amaro Montenegro, the company has grown and diversified to produce dozens of classic Italian Spirits and food products as well as serving as the distributor of global Spirits brands. The Spirits they own are a veritable who’s-who of Italian beverage culture.

Select Aperitivo Liqueur is considered by many to be THE original Aperitivo and the only true foundation for the famous Venetian Aperitivo Spritz cocktail. It was invented by the Pilla brothers and produced for generations at their historic Pilla Distillery in Venice. It is made from a collection of thirty botanicals with juniper berries and rhubarb root being the leading profiles.

Taken neat, the aroma is thick with citrus nests, exotic resin, herbals, dense florals, and a hint of balsamic.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate opens with deep notes of woody barks and roots that open up to notes of strawberry, marmalade, lavender, and baking spice.

Finish
The finish is classically bitter and sweetly smooth.
