Break out your Trader Vic’s cocktail guide and put Six Saints Rum to work.
Grenada is a small island in the western Caribbean. It’s a mere 133 square miles of tropical paradise — that’s abut the size of Portland, Oregon, but with better weather and lots of Rum instead of coffee. Being an island nation the size of a small US city, it is divided into six parishes, each one named after a Catholic Saint. So… Six Saints Rum — get it?
Six Saints is a subsidiary of Craft Spirits Limited—a three year old company. And so far they are limited indeed, producing only one brand and one product that we know of, and this is it.
As you have likely surmised, Six Saints Rum is made in Grenada. Grenada is famously known as “The Island of Spice,” but this is NOT a spiced Rum. This is a pure, West Indian style Rum made from cane. They do age it rather well though, using ex-Bourbon barrels. So you get a nice, warm, vanilla heat from the very first sip.
And even though Rum drinkers will enjoy it neat, Six Saints shines as a mixer. It pours at 41.7% ABV and has a nice, even flavor that plays nice with all of the ingredients on your back bar. So break our your Trader Vic’s cocktail guide and get to work young man… Summer is coming and it’s time to get the party started.
