A classic Italian Aperitif that reaches back in time to rediscover a soothing dram from the past.
After a few years in the jewelry and gem business, Peter Schaf co-founded his first Spirits business — Liqueurs de France — where he developed speciality Liqueurs, including twenty-five Absinthes. Then, in 2006 he co-founded his second Spirits business. And it is at his Tempus Fugit Spirits that he has been turned loose to create and promote a wide range of historically-inspired Spirits — from Absinth and Gin to Aperitifs, Bitters, Cream Liqueurs, Fernet, Vermouth, and many other delicious creations.
One of Peter’s most popular creations is Tempus Fugit Gran Classico Bitter — an Aperitif that follows the original recipe for an old Spirit called "The Italian Bitter of Turin." This herbal Liqueur is infused with twenty-five aromatic herbs, spices, roots, and botanicals. The complete recipe is kept confidential, but it includes wormwood, gentian, bitter orange peel, rhubarb, and hyssop. At 28% ABV, it’s fine to pour over ice on it’s own. But it also makes a delightful swap-out for either Vermouth or Campari in your favorite cocktail. And a few years ago it was even named one of the Top 130 Spirits In The World.
Smartass Corner:
Tempus Fugit is a Latin expression that literally means "time flees," but is commonly held to mean "time flies."
