Arran 18 returns as a fully-fledged member of their core range with a a luscious, decadent palate and finish.
Harold Currie was a senior director Chivas. He somehow got it in his head that he could do Whisky better. Harold was also a fan of the Isle of Arran — an island in the middle of the Firth of Clyde which had at one time been home to at least fifty illegal distilleries. So he saved his pennies, took on a few investors, and broke ground on his dream in 1994 on the island near the town of Lochranza. But two golden eagles built a nest on site and construction had to be stopped until the chicks were fully fledged. Solid move, right? Today, they produce a tidy range of Single Malt offerings, limited editions, special blends, and a Scottish cream Liqueur.
Turns out good old Harold COULD do it better.
Arran initially released the eighteen year version as a limited edition… you know, a little PR to get some attention. But the release sold out so quickly that it got the team’s attention. And the Arran fans can be remarkably persistent and persuasive. So, they have added it to the core range. Arran 18 Year Old is their signature Single Malt matured to voting age in ex-Sherry casks and bottled at a perfect 46% ABV. Simple, pure, gorgeous.

The aroma is filled with marmalade, fig, apple and pear, a nice helping of vanilla, and a melange of baking spices.

The palate is rich and velvety with notes of a 50/50 bar, French toast, more apple, toasted oak, and a nice crunchy English toffee.
Finish
The finish is long and dreamy… fruit forward and almost decadent.
