The GlenDronach’s marvelous Single Malt aged exclusively in Andalusian Sherry casks and bottled for your pleasure at full Cask Strength.
GlenDronach Distillery was founded in 1826 by James Allardice whose name is still proudly displayed on the bottle. They are smack dab in the middle of the Highland action about a mile south of the River Deveron. Over their 200-year history, this traditional distillery has been bought, sold, and traded more times than a Chicago politician. But in 2008 they were acquired from Pernod Ricard by the BenRiach Distillery Company.
GlenDronach has won a lot of awards across their wide range of superlative releases. But the best award — and the only one you probably care about — is that they have a devoted cadre of followers who make GlenDronach their personal, daily dram.
On February 4, 2021, the lovely folks at The GlenDronach Distillery release the latest limited edition of their Cask Strength Single Malt — Batch 9. When they did, here in the Flaviar offices we became giddy little boys and girls waiting for a chance to get of greedy little Single malt-loving hands on a dram… or two. Now we got it and we have some to share with you, too.
For The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 9, Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie hand selected casks of their fine Single Malt matured in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks from Andalucia and had them bottled at 59.4% ABV. Start pouring.

Appearance / Color
Antique Gold
Nose / Aroma / Smell
The fragrance is remarkably complex with layers of fruits and nuts along with hints of espresso and leather with a bit of English toffee too.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
With a single, large ice cube the palate opens with a luscious, oily texture and notes of dutch apple pie, more English toffee, maple bar, flamed orange zest, Nutella, fig, a sprig of mint, and dark cherry.
Finish
The finish is long with a chocolate and menthol second act.
