One of the most prestigious expressions of the Speyside craft.

In 1824, George Smith made a daring move and got a license to legally produce single malt whisky. Needless to say the neighbouring smugglers weren’t all too happy about it, so for protection he had to carry not one, but two guns at all times. Imagine that.

The Glenlivet 18 Year Old is distilled in the "Livet" district, Speyside, twice in copper stills and then finished through a combination of first- and second-fill American oak casks and ex-Sherry oak casks. Tropical fruits from American oak mingle with a spicy complexity from Sherry oak for a fragrant, elegant and complex expression that is absolutely delectable!

Smartass Corner:
1) In the past Glenlivet was used to name the "terroir" in the Speyside region. So it's possible to find bottles of Macallan-Glenlivet, Balvenie-Glenlivet, etc.
2) Glenlivet stills are lantern shaped with long, narrow necks, all of which helps produce a light tasting spirit.

Old gold with apricot hues.

Smell / Nose / Aroma

Rich fruit aromas, rose garden, sweet oakiness, pine and mint chocolate, barley sugars, nuttiness, honey, toffee and coconut.

Flavor / Taste / Palate

Sweet oranges, gentle spice, fennel and spearmint. tannic oaky notes, malty sweetness and nougat.

Finish

Long steady finish, with a spicy oak and moist raisin notes.
