Proximo Spirits does a great job developing Spirits brand. Proximo was founded in 2007 by the Beckman family — owners of José Cuervo. Their portfolio now includes eighteen brands across the range of Spirits. The Kraken Rum line of spiced Rums was introduced in 2010 and has seen exponential growth, especially in Australia where it has a dominant market position.
Kraken Black Roast Coffee Rum is a limited edition built on the classic Kraken Black Spiced Rum that they are famous for. The Spirit is molasses-based and distilled on the island of Trinidad at the southernmost point in the Caribbean Sea. It’s aged one to two years and infused with a secret mix of eleven spices, including cinnamon, clove, and ginger. So far so good.
Kraken Black Roast Coffee Rum takes the additional step of macerating fresh-roasted coffee beans in the finished Spirit, creating a unique and rich flavor monster which they bottle at a clever 66.6 proof. It’s a great twist for Rum cocktails, but we love it chilled icy-cold as a sipper on it own.
