An intensely floral, extremely well-crafted Gin with a striking aquamarine color.
González Byass is one of the largest and most famous of Spain’s Sherry-making bodegas. It was founded in 1835 by Manuel María González Angel, who was joined shortly thereafter by his trading partner, Robert Blake Byass. The company has expanded with each generation — six of them — with ownership and operation firmly under family control. They have a wide range of Sherries, Cordials, Wines, and distilled Spirits in their highly respected portfolio.
The London No. 1 Original Blue Gin is quite a lovely Gin. And we would not be shocked if you questioned how a maker of some of the world’s finest Sherries in Spain crafted such a Gin. And the answer is that the good folks at González Byass are smart enough to trust the daily production to a master of the art. And although you will not see a whisper on the internet, the Gin master trusted with the production appears to be Charles Maxwell of The Gin Foundry in the heart of London. There are twelve core botanicals, including juniper, Angelica root , savory, coriander, cassia bark, licorice, cinnamon, almond, lemon peel, orange peel, Lily root and bergamot. But the striking aqua-blue color comes in part from natural gardenia blossoms. Even better, it’s bottled at an impressive cocktail strength of 47% ABV.

Brilliant Aquamarine
Nose / Aroma / Smell

The florals follow through on the palate, but ginger makes its presence known along with orange zest and fresh herbals.
Finish
Taken neat, the finish is clean but with a pronounced lingering note of lilacs and orange blossoms.
