Founded in 1824, The Macallan is one of the “Big 3” distilleries in Scotland. Fortunately, they have achieved this scale without sacrificing quality. Their achievements are numerous — including setting the record price ever paid at auction for a single bottle of Scotch. They produce a very broad range of world-class single malt Whiskies that have a huge global following.

The Macallan Whisky Maker's Edition can be hard to find. It was originally a special edition for the travel retail market — available exclusively at international terminals in exotic locations. So if you haven’t seen your passport in a few years, this is a rare chance to scoop up a bottle. It’s called “Whisky Maker’s Edition” after Bob Dalgarno, Macallan’s distillery manager.

Macallan’s famous single malt is aged exclusively in Sherry casks. This one is aged in a mix of Sherry and Bourbon casks so it will be a bit less sweet and a bit more spicy. It is also served up at Bob’s preferred strength — 42.8% ABV — so it is more powerful as well.
