Another winning blend of international Whiskies from Togouchi with a grain-forward flavor profile.
Chugoku Jozo was started in 1918 as a distributor of Sake and traditional Japanese liquors. They specialized in all the stuff that happens after distillation — meaning that they sourced young Spirits from distillers and then blended, aged, bottled, and distributed it themselves. By 1963 they were ready to start brewing their own Sake and released the first finished, aged product in 1967. Today they curate, produce, age, and package a variety of Sakes, Wines, and Whiskies under several brands, including Togouchi. Interestingly, they age their Whiskies in a nearly 1200-foot long abandoned railway tunnel rather than a conventional warehouse.
All Togouchi Whiskies are premium blends of local Japanese, Scottish, and Canadian Spirits (more offerings that are all from the local Sakurao distillery will come soon). Togouchi Kiwami was created exclusively for the French market. But we know a guy who knows a guy who owes us a favor. Anyway, long story short, we managed to get some cases to share with you.
