This Tullamore Irish Single Malt is a rare treat to find outside of Ireland and has a creamy vanilla-and-fruit profile.
The Tullamore Distillery was founded by Michael Molloy on the outskirts of Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland, in 1829. It was passed on to his son who hired Daniel E. Williams to be general manage. That was a good decision. Williams built the company up into a great success. The company and brand have changed hands a few times over the years, and the distillery was — for a time — moved away from the town it is named after. But William Grant & Sons purchased the company in 2010 and built a brand new distillery in Tullamore with a visitor center in one of the original bonded warehouses.
When it comes to wood and aging, the good folks at Tullamore are not ones for half-measures. So, when it came to developing their top-of-the-line dram they pulled out all the stops.
Tullamore D.E.W. 14 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey is special. Not only is this an Irish Single Malt, but it’s been aged for fourteen years. But that’s not enough… no sir! it has also been finished in four different casks as well — ex-Bourbon, Port, Madeira, and Oloroso Sherry casks — and bottled at 41.3% ABV. It’s quite the sensation and hard to get outside of Ireland.
