Double Gold Tullamore.
Tullamore Distillery recently re-opened in the village of Tullamore, where it was originally based in 1829. It was ran by Daniel E. Willaims for 30 years, and now dedicates its Tullamore D.E.W. to his name. Although visitors cannot tour the actual distillery, there is an opportunity to learn more about the brand from the visitor centre, situated in the Old Bonded Warehouse. This is a great chance to engage with the brand as it moves forward, as well as learning more about its rich history.
Tullamore D.E.W. is a triple distilled, blended Whiskey that has been aged in ex-bourbon and sherry casks. This gives it an incredible smoothness and a complexity from the blend. It has a good kick, with citrusy fruits lingering from nose to finish and a nice undertone of spice throughout. The Sherry casks also add a good dose of sweetness that serves to emphasise and intertwine with the other flavors.
