Setting the Whiskey free
Founded in 2004 when there were only three dozen distillers in the USA, Westward is going stronger than ever today when there are more than 2000 in the country. Guess they are doing something right, right? In a completely new way of thinking about Whiskey, Westward has put this holy Spirit on a pedestal, proclaiming no tradition or whiskey-making process to be too holy to be reconsidered - if that means the Whiskey might be better for it. So they make things a bit differently. Building their flavor from scratch, by brewing pale ale from local Northwest malted barley and intensifying it by double distillation in custom low-reflux pot stills, they transform the fresh pale ale into a robust, bold, and exquisitely balanced Whiskey.
The pride and joy of the distillery, their sample spirit of the Westward way is Westward Original American Single Malt Whiskey, the pinnacle of American Single Malts. This Whiskey was created from local Northwest malted barley, brewed for the intense flavor, and matured to perfection in new, heavily toasted, and lightly charred American Oak barrels. The maturation process took place in Oregon where the winters are cold and breezy, but the summers are hot, exposing the barrels to changing temperatures to make one world-class complex Whiskey. A winner of gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, this Whiskey will make you a fan with its big and bold flavors.
