An exquisite example of 30 year-old Panamanian Rum.

Ron Zacapa is named after a town in eastern Guatemala — "Ron" means Rum and Zacapa is the town. Their plantation is located high on the volcanic plains of Retalhuleu. They have been making premium Rum in Central America for more than one hundred years, and their Centenario line is one of the most sought-after by Rum-lovers and collectors alike. All of the Rums they produce across their portfolio are really top notch.

The Zafra line of Rums was created by the masters at Zacapa to market their Panamian Rums. Zafra 30 YO is truly rare. Production is strictly limited to 6720 bottles per year of hand selected casks. The Rum inside is cane-based and ages exclusively in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels for a minimum of three decades. The result is incredibly smooth, rich, and complex. In a word… exquisite.

Hands down the best rum I've e...

Hands down the best rum I've ever had. I put this up against all the other premium rums in my collection--Flor de Cana 25, Ron Zacapa Centenario XO, Kirk and Sweeney XO, Foursquare 2008--and it's not even close. So smooth, such a wonderfully sweet flavor profile. I could drink this straight for every drink of the week (and generally do) and not get sick of it. I've probably gone through 5-6 bottles of it at this point, and every time I finish one, I don't hesitate to order another.
