A perfect Scotch for fathers of all generations.

The saying goes that fathers build, sons expand, and grandsons destroy. But with this family it's different: every next progeny made the Spirit-making business stronger while keeping the ancient recipe intact.

The maker of this Spirit is one of the few remaining independent and family-owned distilleries in Scotland. It was started in 1836 by Robert Hay, and bought by John Grant a few decades later. Nowadays it's run by the 6th generation of the Grant family, making it truly independent, which is kind-of refreshing these days. Glenfarclas distillery owns six stills, which are the largest in all of Highland, and produce a typical Speyside-style Whisky, which is heavily Sherry influenced. They mature their malts in traditional dunnage warehouses, where they have stock back to 1952.

Glenfarclas 15 Year Old was matured exclusively in Sherry casks for 15 years. Bam! That's a lot of Sherry ageing. The infamous Jim Murray gave this superb dram 95 points in his Whisky Bible. It's a must for all fan-a-tics of Sherried Whiskies. And of Scotch. And of Whisky. And of Spirits!

Somehow I was expecting more from a 15 year old especially from Glenfarclas. Too smooth, not much character
