Journey broadens the mind and the Spirit.
Southwestern distillery is an independent, family-run Cornish distillery that specializes in making Pastis and Gin (for now). The core of their production is using traditional techniques and equipment to produce small, 300 bottle batches of handcrafted spirit. The small operation, a combined effort of five people, is led by Tarquin Leadbetter, who exhibits his great leadership in name and action.
The distillery is based near the town of Padstow and their products reflect their beautiful coastal surroundings. This is in no small part due to the dedication of Tarquin’s team that refuses to compromise on its production – every bottle is hand-filled, waxed, signed and tested by the man himself. At the heart of their process lies a hand-beaten, flame-fired copper pot still called Tamara.
Small, artisan distilleries like Southwestern are the reason behind Gin’s fantastic comeback in the last years. Although they swear on using the local spring water and Devon violets from their home garden, their Tarquin´s Cornish Dry Gin is really a globetrotting botanical project. The ingredients are sourced from all around the world and mixed in a way to create something familiar, but unique at the same time. Only the best and the purest spirit makes it into the bottle before it’s corked and sent back on its journey for us to enjoy.
This Gin is not only a package full of integrity, but also quality, winning awards left and right. The Gin revolution is in full swing and Tarquin´s Cornish Dry Gin is the one of its most stellar flag-bearers. Come along for the ride.
