If we set out to find the oldest brewing and distilling spot in Scotland, Tullibardine would definitely be in the running. Back in the 15th century, King James IV — a young, strapping man — stopped into the local brewery here on the way to his coronation. The old brewery was transformed into a distillery back in 1946 and has become a solid maker of Single Malt Whisky. After a brief closing in 1995, it was brought back to life in 2003 — and we’re all pretty happy about that. They produce a wide range of aged Single Malts, several finished "double-wood" Whiskies, and some older limited editions — any of them a solid and approachable daily dram.
Tullibardine The Murray Double Wood was distilled in 2005 at their Perthshire Distillery. It was first aged in first-fill Bourbon casks before being finished in first-fill Sherry casks. You should prepare for a smooth and exceptionally velvety tasting experience with gentle flavors of sherried fruits, honey, cinnamon, and just a touch of espresso with cream-drizzled fresh strawberries.
