All about Tullibardine distillery
The history Tullibardine dates all the way back to the 15th century when a dapper young gentleman by the name of King James IV strolled into a local old brewery.
In 1946 the brewery was transformed into a spiffy new distillery and the rest was history.
This independent, family owned distillery is known for their unique way of naming their Whiskies (they literally have a single malt called “Sovereign.”
Their special Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish is so-called because the Sherry casks are traditionally a whopping 500 liters in size.
After their Whiskies are distilled, expert staff select first fill casks from only the highest quality Bourbon distilleries.
To create “Sovereign” they select Hogsheads, Barriques, and ex-Sherry butts from the Wine Chateaus of Europe before their Master Cooper gets to work, customizing the barrels.
Up to 70 percent of the flavor of the Whisky is said to come from the wood.
With the addition of their onsite bottling plant, Tullibardine has become one of the very few distilleries in Scotland to distill, mature, and bottle onsite, overseeing every step of production.
