Xellent Gin is, in a word, excellent.
Hans Affentranger started distilling in the small Swiss town of Willisau in 1918. A few years later he founded Distillerie Willisau SA (DIWISA). Over the years the company has grown to a full-time staff of over one hundred producing a wide range of Europe’s more popular spirits brands, including Jägermeister, Trojka, Xellent, and dozens of additional brands that form the core of back-bars all of the EU. The Xellent line includes a Swiss Vodka and Gin.
Usually, the best Rye grain is sent to bakeries and the lower-quality seeds are sent to distilleries. But for their award-winning Xellent Gin, they take the grain as seriously as any Highland single malt master — selecting the best Picasso and Matador Rye seeds for their copper alembic stills. Distillation is slow and gentle to ensure only the lightest, sweetest spirit makes it into the bottles. And the 25 botanical infusions are unique too — including lemon balm, edelweiss mountain flowers, woodruff, and lavender. The result is an exceptionally fragrant and refreshing Gin that emphasizes florals and grasses.
