Bushmills survived the period of Prohibition. Wilson Boyd, Bushmills' director at the time, predicted the end of ban and had large stores of Whiskey ready to export, which was a great advantage.
In 1972 the distillery was bought by Irish Distillers, then Pernod Ricard and finally Diageo in 2005. In 2015 Jose Cuervo acquired the distillery from Diageo.
